When small holder coffee farmers need financial and logistical help to get their coffee processed and onto the global market, or when they want to consolidate their bargaining power for price negotiations, they often join regional cooperatives. Many times these cooperatives help farmers get their products certified Organic in order to guarantee higher premiums. Along the way, the cooperatives often hire a team of agronomists, sales people, and other experts in the field of coffee to help farmers with higher yields and higher quality, to run the dry-mills and help with processing, and to help move the coffee from origin to the roaster.
