Burundi Yandaro

  • $15.99

The Yandaro washing station is located in the Kayanza province of northern Burundi, near the Rwandan border. The name Yandaro comes from the Kirundi word “indaro” which means “lodging”. While washing their herds of cows, farmers in the area would build bee-hive shaped camps along the river, which were also called indaros. Our design for this bag is inspired by those camps. Tasting Notes: Sweet orange marmalade, brown sugar and black tea.

Weight 12 oz. (340g)

Coffee Info

Yandaro was built in 1986 in the Kabarore Commune in the Kayanza province and lies at an altitude of about 5,800 feet. This washing station collects cherries from over 3500 local coffee farmers spread over the 22 neighboring collines. Colline means "hill" in French, one of the two official languages of Burundi. During the harvest season, Yandaro processes more than 1200 tons of coffee.
